LOGOS INTERNATIONAL BIBLE COLLEGE ADMISSION POLICY

A.
Overseas Students

Our full-time courses satisfy Home Office Immigration regulations for Overseas Students requiring a UK student’s visa. It is essential that all Overseas Applicants obtain their visa through the British Embassy or High Commission in their country of origin before attempting to enter into the UK.

The most important consideration for Overseas Students is the ability to cover the costs of your study and living expenses while you are in the UK. Proof of your financial security and situation will be required by the respective Embassy/ High Commission in your country of origin. You must also prove that you intend to leave the UK on completion of your studies.

Admission and Letters of Acceptance are subject to submission of completed Application Forms with all the required enclosures. This includes reference letters; full fees; photographs; evidence that you are able to cover your living expenses in London and details of your Academic qualifications.

Each Overseas Student with a student visa must attend a minimum of 18 hours per week of organised daytime studies at our College.

Overseas Students from outside the European Community will not be permitted to take up full-time paid employment. However, the Department of Employment allows students a maximum of 20 hours per week of part-time work provided these hours do not interfere with nor conflict with your studies. This in essence means you may only work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Entrance Requirements

Each applicant must

     1.      Provide us with a reference from a church minister
2.      Be at least 18 years of age
3.      Have a good standard of English language ability
4.      Have 3 O levels or equivalent secondary school education
5.      Demonstrate a keen desire to apply themselves to study at our College
6.      Demonstrate the ability to pay their Tuition Fees for the duration of the course

Application Procedure

If you are satisfied that we are the College best suited for you, and that you can fulfil the admission requirements, the following will be the procedure:

1. Return the Completed Application Form to our mailing address together with the other relevant papers  (in order to speed up the process you can scan and email application form, but originals must still be posted to our UK postal address).

2. Ask your referee to complete and return his/ her forms to us at the same address.

3. We will assess your application. If successful, we shall inform you and require that the full fees be paid in advance by Bank Transfer.

4. Upon receipt of the fees, we shall issue you with a confirmation letter which you should take to the British Embassy/ High Commission to apply for your visa.

5. Once you have received your visa you must notify us immediately and inform us of the flight details and times of your arrival in the UK.

6. You must report to the College within 48 hours of arrival and should either telephone or email beforehand to arrange an appointment with a member of staff who will help you with any initial questions and confirm your arrival in the UK. You must inform us of your full address where you are staying and should you at any time move address you will need to report that immediately to the College Administrator.

7. You will be notified within one month after receipt of your application as to whether you have been admitted or refused.

8. We have two start dates for our College each year. You may either commence in early September as most students do, or you may apply to be accepted in early January after the Christmas holidays. Either way you will complete exactly the same course but the subject order will naturally be different.

9. Overseas Students are also expected to link with Holy Nation Church or Brixton Full Gospel Church for the purpose of church meetings whilst they are studying at Logos International Bible College. This also enables us to be have better control and awareness to a student’s whereabouts should he or she be missing from class.

10. It is essential and compulsory that you either fax (or scan and email) your visa application to us for checking prior to submitting it to the Embassy. We have experienced too many students being refused visas by making mistakes on the visa application forms. Please remember the British Embassy are looking for whatever excuse possible to deny entry to the UK.

Attendance/ Non-Attendance

Each day a record of attendance is kept together with your arrival time for class if you are late.

Students are expected to maintain strict discipline in class attendance and we will not tolerate continued lateness or excessive absence from class.

If you are absent due to illness you must submit a medical certificate from your doctor or GP to our Administrator.

Each term is about 60 tuition days. If you miss more than 6 days in a term we shall issue you with the following:

If you miss 7 – 10 days in a term you will receive a warning letter and your grades may be affected.

If you miss 11 - 15 days in a term you will receive a serious warning and your grades will be affected.

If you miss more than 15 days in a term we shall immediately inform the Home Office and you will be expelled from the College.

(The exceptions to these regulations are if you provide a medical certificate from your doctor or GP or if you need to travel home in the case of bereavement within your immediate family).

Students are not permitted to travel home during college term time (except in the case of bereavement within your immediate family, for which documentary evidence will be required.) You must therefore make all your travel arrangements within the holiday periods.

Students are not permitted to miss class for job interviews; training days; dental appointments or any minor matters. You are here to study and have a visa for this purpose and you are expected to therefore make your lectures your highest priority.

If we suspect that you have an ulterior motive for being at our College - i.e. you just wanted access to the UK or are more interested in sending money back home (for example) - and your lack of attendance, punctuality, commitment to homework and assignments would appear to support our concerns, we shall call you to meet with the College Principal. This may well result in you being dismissed from the college and we would immediately inform the Home Office.

Punctuality

You are expected to be punctual for all classes. Students who arrive more than 20 minutes late for class will be marked as absent unless they have telephoned the College and left a message to convey a satisfactory reason for their lateness.

Students who arrive more than 30 minutes late for class will not be permitted to attend that lecture and will be marked as absent.
