Calling and Vision of Holy Nation Church

God has given our Church a truly wonderful calling and vision: Mark 13:10, “And this Gospel must first be published among all nations.” One of the major emphases of our ministry is that of publishing. When one considers publishing, one thinks of putting into print; to clearly make known to the masses. And so as a Church our vision and calling is to ‘make Jesus Christ known' to the world.

As we look around us in our society and in our media, we see ourselves surrounded by Advertising - Advertising Boards on street corners; underground stations; buses; sponsoring of events etc. - not to mention our TV screens, radio, newspapers and magazines. This world is promoting its products. However, the name of and the knowledge of Jesus is not being published and remains largely unknown. He is not being lifted up, promoted or advertised as He should be.

Therefore, God has called us to publish the Name of Jesus. In order to do bring the Gospel message, it is essential that we use the medium of our day and generation. Therefore, we primarily desire to make Jesus known through advertising, TV, radio, music, arts, and internet etc. We make designs, posters and tracts containing the Word of God whereby as we lift up the Name of Jesus, He will draw all men unto Himself. It is time to reverse the trend and proclaim our Lord to this lost, dying, needful and hurting world! We have already put up massive posters at most major Underground stations including Victoria, Oxford Circus, Piccadilly and Leicester Square. In this way, several thousands of people are reading edifying scriptures and the Holy Spirit is drawing people to Jesus.

The heart of Victoria contains both Buckingham Palace and Parliament within its vicinity. Every day there are thousands of people from all the nations of the world right on our doorstep. Workers, travellers, tourists, theatre-goers, students... Victoria is at the heart of London - there is a major train station, major bus terminus, Britain’s main coach station and probably the busiest Underground station in London.

When one considers the ‘heart’, one thinks of the organ which pumps the life-blood around the rest of the body. The heart affects the whole body - and certainly being called by the Lord to establish a church in the ‘heart’ of London is an opportunity to affect and influence the whole of our nation with the Gospel of Jesus Christ - indeed we believe we are in fact reaching all the nations of the world due to where we are located. As one tourist/foreign student etc. finds Jesus Christ they return to their own country with the message and hence the Gospel goes further.

The community of Victoria contains people from every kind of social background, from royalty to homeless. As mentioned, we’ve been called to build an integrated church and it is so beautiful to see people from all colours, backgrounds and nationalities joining as one to worship the Lord Jesus.

The second aspect to our vision is from the verse Isaiah 61:1. “The Spirit of the sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prisons to those who are bound.”

As part of our Love Ministry we want to comfort the lonely, heal the sick, bind up the broken-hearted, feed the hungry, visit those in prison; basically to go where the people are - pubs, streets, nightclubs, casinos, bingo halls, clubs - bind the strongman, proclaim the victory of Jesus, and set the captives free!

We operate a discipleship training structure in our Home Groups which enables us to provide ministry, teaching and pastoral care for every member in our fellowship. It is not compulsory to join one of our Home Groups, but by doing so you will be able to receive Pastoral Care, prayer support and also develop your own gift and calling within the church.

Provided that an individual wishes to make Jesus known in his or her life, there is opportunity for every ministry and calling to flourish and develop within Holy Nation Church. The evangelist through preaching; the Pastor through follow-up and counselling; the teacher in his teaching; in the gifts of the Spirit; all of us as one united body having the same aim and intention to ‘publish Jesus.’ Whatever God has called you to do, we believe there is room for it within our fellowship.

Sunday services are held at 10.30am at The Abbey Centre, 34 Great Smith Street, Westminster, London, SW1P 3BU.
